Hunger Games District 8 Textile Make Up Look

In response to the release of the Hunger Games: Catching Fire film, Covergirl released a new make up collection called Capitol Collection. Along with the debut of the new collection, Covergirl created 12 themed looks for all 12 Districts in the movie, using products in the collection. While all the looks created are beautiful, I think there are few that can be worn everyday like the District 8 Textile look. I created a slideshow that shows step by step how to achieve a look similar to this one. All products and brushes I used were under $10; can be found at your local Wal-Mart and Target.

NEW Natural Hair Line From Pantene

Pantene has released two new lines for African American hair: Truly Relaxed and Truly Natural. Since my hair is natural, I decided to pick up two of the four products offered. I chose the Pantene Truly Natural Hair Co-Wash Cleansing Conditioner and the Pantene Truly Natural Hair Defining Curls Styling Custard.

Both products are designed to help manage natural hair while controlling frizz and adding moisture, shine, and softness. I purchased and tried both products Tuesday night. The conditioner and custard retailed for $4.99 each from my local Target. The products left my naturally curly hair soft and smelling GREAT! I think the custard especially smells good! I did notice that the custard dries on the hair like a gel and caused my hair to feel dry. Although this may be normal for most custards, I've never used one before so I was suprised. I think knowing this I'll use the custard on my wet hair only. I really like the fact Pantene now has a separate lines for natural and relaxed hair instead of a combined line like they used to have. I am looking forward to also purchasing more products from this line especially the Pantene Shine Serum with Argan Oil.

Cantu Flat Iron Spray

On a recent trip to Atlanta I received one of the best heat protectant sprays that I have tried and it is the Cantu Shea Butter Flat Iron Spray. Cantu is a natural hair care product line that specializes in products that cater to Natural African American Hair. Each product has natural ingredients with pure shea butter and different oils to moisturize hair and stimulate healthy growth. This particular product is a heat protectant and the formula is formulated to protect, moisturize, and gives a slight hold to avoid frizziness. The only thing I don't like about this product is that the hold that the spray gives is kind of hard and sticky, although it may be because I'm holding the spray too close to my hair before I put the iron on it. I have also noticed that the spray stays in my hair days after I have sprayed it. Even though my hair feels dry, once I re-iron parts of my hair it gets a hold on it as if I sprayed more product on it and I haven't. For the most part I like it and I hope that I can find it since I got it in Atlanta. I haven't seen this product locally but prices for this product range from $4-$7 online and it says that it can be found at Wal-Mart or Walgreens. Whether I have to purchase this product online or in store, I will continue to buy it and will try other Cantu hair products.

New Blush Palette

I recently purchased a blush palette online and here are different pictures of blush palettes online, can you guess which one I purchased? From top to bottom: the first blush palette is from Bhcosmetics.com for $14.95, the second is from Bhcosmetics.com for $9.00, the third is from Coastal Scents.com for $9.00, and the last one is from Amazon.com for $4.95. As you may have guessed, I purchased the last blush palette from Amazon.com from seller ZGCC on Amazon for $4.95.

I had been looking for a blush palette to travel with so that I don't have to carry multiple items with me and I have found in the past that different make up palettes tend to be the most convenient. Palettes are also easy to store and keep everything organized because make up can get messy. All of the palettes mentioned are very similar in colors and product, and the last palette I purchased is almost identical to the third palette from Coastal Scents. Bh cosmetics and Coastal Scents always have good deals on different make up but if you want the same amount of product for the least amount of money visit Amazon.com soon!

John Frieda Wavy Curls

In a recent trip to my local Target I picked up the John Frieda Wavy Curls Iron. It's a 1 1/2 inch curling wand that features 30 second instant heat, the barrel is titanium ceramic coated, and the temperature reaches 400 F/205 C. I already have a 1 inch curling wand and I wanted a bigger wand for bigger curls. The last picture is the curls I received from the iron and I'm sure they will come out better once I prep my hair, that was just a test curl. The greatest part about this curling iron is that it was $8.98, marked down from $29.99!!!! At my local Target a lot of the styling tools were on clearance and this wand was the best deal for me. Visit your local Target to see what new markdowns they offer before all these goodies are gone!

Love Culture Haul

*I apologize for bad lighting and the misplaced product, the computer wouldn't let me rotate the pic. :(

Love Culture is a keeper! Hi guys! I recently purchased two pairs of shoes and a phone case from Love Culture for my birthday. I wanted some brown boots for the fall/winter and especially some Lita Jeffrey Campbell look a likes because I didn't want to pay $125 dollars for these shoes http://www.jeffreycampbelluk.com/lita/lita-black-leather.html. The deal on loveculture.com is that over any purchase $50 you will receive free shipping so I purchased the chestnut lace up boots for $18.90 (http://www.loveculture.com/1000009980.html?dwvar_1000009980_color_code=235#start=7), the platform boots aka Lita look a likes for $29.80 (http://www.loveculture.com/1000011592.html?dwvar_1000011592_color_code=001#start=9) and this cute little phone case for $2.99 (http://www.loveculture.com/1000004651.html?dwvar_1000004651_color_code=001#start=36). Everything included plus tax my total was $57, I placed my order on Tuesday Oct.1 and received it on Wednesday Oct. 2nd. I assume the shipping was so fast because I live in the Los Angeles area and their business is located in Los Angeles. Nonetheless, I plan on purchasing from Love Culture in the future based on the affordable prices and excellent service. Hurry up and get your Fall goodies ladies before they sell out!

Bedtime Favorite!

I found a new love in this Vaseline body gel oil because it smells really good, the consistency is very thick and mainly for the fact it moisturizes long term! I have been loving putting this on once out the shower and it leaves my body feeling hydrated long after it's soaked in. Usually I use baby oil or cocoa butter when I get out the shower but I find with the baby oil that my skin absorbs the oil extremely fast then my skin is dry within the next hour and the cocoa butter is pretty good but it's the same thing with my skin absorbing the cocoa butter then my skin being dry soon after. I have used lotion but I find if I put it on the night before when I wake up I'm sticky and it leaves my body feeling clammy. This item is comparable to the Johnson Johnson Baby Oil Gel that normally retails between $3 and $4. I purchased this Vaseline body gel oil from my local Target for $5.34 (before tax) but they have a dupe from the Target brand Up + Up for $3.74 (before tax) that I'm sure works just as good.

Suave To The Rescue

In a recent trip to Target I was looking for a new shampoo and new conditioner when I came across Suave Professionals line. I remembered that Suave had redesigned their formula of hair products to be equivalent to more high end brands so I decided to try some for myself. The kind I got is Suave Professionals Natural Line Almond + Shea Butter Moisturizing for Dry Damaged Hair. On the bottle it reads: Salon Proven to work as well as Aveda Moisturizing products. I think this shampoo and conditioner worked fairly well on my hair. I have curly course hair that gets dry very easily so I look for lightweight formulas in all hair products that don't weigh my curls down and Suave did just that! Normally a bottle of store bought shampoo cost between $2.99 & can go up as high as $12.99 or even higher if salon products are sold in department stores but I bought both of these products from my local Target in a set for a total of $3.89 (before tax). I am satisfied with Suave's improved line of hair products and look forward to purchasing more.

Cotton.com

Cotton On SALE!!!!!! Right now Cotton On is having a sale on their clothes and shoes as we transition into Fall. All the items above were under $20 (at the time of purchase) and are right on trend for the new season. Starting from the right with the shoes, last month I purchased in store black knee-length riding boots that have a zipper along the side of the boot, with a beige/natural colored sole, and round toe ($10; $10.98 w/tax).  Next online I purchased ankle-length combat boots in the right top corner that have black laces, natural colored soles, with a round toe, and a zipper along the ankle ($5, $6 shipping). This past week online I ordered the remaining three items: the round toed flats w/ gold studs ($7.50), panther growling tank top ($5), and studs ($2; $6 shipping). Cotton On is a budget friendly store because they constantly have a sale on their merchandise, shoes and accessories included. In store tax is pretty low and online shipping is a flat rate of $6 which is reasonable enough considering the discounted clothes. Visit your nearest Cotton On in store or online to get your hands on some of these goodies before they're sold out!

New Black Radiance Lippies

A newly discovered cosmetic brand that I am in love with is, Black Radiance! I have seen these cosmetics in places like Wal-Mart and Rite Aid before but just thought that they were a cheapy kind of make up. I figured it would be ill-pigmented and not provide good coverage but I was wrong!!!! The products I recently purchased were 3 lipsticks called: 5112 African Violet, 5114 Hibiscus, and 5115 Pale Rose. All these lipsticks are pigmented and provide a creme finish. I really like these lipsticks and hope to buy more! Below I have taken pictures of the lipsticks and swatches. Enjoy!
